Benefits of reducing stress

Of course, you can’t get rid of all stress from your life.

Butfinding good ways to deal with stress can mean:

  • less infections;

  • symptoms are not as bad; and

  • symptoms don’t last as long.

Lots of research showsthat when we are under stress our immune systems don’t work so well and we are more likely to get ill.

  • In one study people were trained in ways to cope with stress.

  • The study compared people who had the training to people who did not.

  • Those who tried ways to cope with stress got muchfewer, shorter, milder infections.

  • They also missed less than a quarter of the number of days of work!
